01 — Our Story

Three decades in the making.

Since 1994, The Blue Legume has been part of the rhythm of Stoke Newington Church Street. Executive Chef and owner Mehmet Gurbuz — over thirty years in the kitchen, the last ten of them here in London — cooks food built on Turkish, Greek, Italian and French traditions: made to be shared, enjoyed and remembered.

Find us at St Mary’s Court on Stoke Newington Church Street, a short walk from the station, with a bright conservatory seating area out the back.

Breakfast to dinner, all day

We open at 8:30am, serve breakfast and brunch until 4pm, and keep the kitchen going until 10:30pm.

What type of food do you serve?

Breakfast, brunch and dinner built on Turkish, Greek, Italian and French traditions, plus coffee, wine and cocktails. Lots of dishes are made for sharing.

How long have you been open?

Since 1994 — over thirty years serving Stoke Newington Church Street.

Are you taking Christmas bookings?

Yes — Christmas bookings are open now, with limited availability. Our Christmas menu is coming soon, so keep an eye on this page.

What are your opening hours?

Monday to Saturday 8:30am–10:30pm, Sunday 8:30am–10:00pm. The kitchen closes at 10:30pm.

When is breakfast served?

Breakfast and brunch are served from 8:30am until 4pm.

How can I make a reservation?

Can I book a table for a large group?

Yes — please use our group booking page and our team will get back to you. For regular tables, book online through OpenTable.

What is the group booking deposit and cancellation policy?

A deposit of £5 per person is taken to secure a group booking. For groups of 10 or more, cancel at least 1 week before your booking and your deposit is refunded. For groups of fewer than 10, let us know at least 2 days before. If notice is given in time the deposit is refunded; otherwise it is non-refundable. Read the full terms.

Do you take walk-ins?

We’re happy to seat walk-ins when space allows, though booking ahead is recommended, especially at weekends.

Do you have vegetarian, vegan or gluten-free options?

Yes — there are plenty of vegetarian dishes, and gluten-free and vegan options are available. Please tell a member of the team about any allergies when you book or order.

Do you have high chairs?

Yes, high chairs are available.
